EDUCATIONAL VISITS AT CUSGARNE
We warmly invite schools, home educators and youth groups to join us at Cusgarne Organic Farm for a series of gentle, nature-based learning experiences.

These visits offer young people the time and space to slow down, observe closely and understand the connections between farming, food production and the natural world.
​
Each session blends science, creativity and reflection, helping participants build confidence outdoors while deepening their relationship with nature.

Age range: under 18 (see eco-anxiety session for 12+)
Group size: 4–12 participants
Duration: 2–3 hours

The programme is funded through the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, so visits for young people are free of charge.
​
Adult groups are welcome for a small fee — please contact us to discuss your needs.
What to expect
Sessions take place outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions.

Participants will:​

develop awareness of food systems and conservation

build confidence and connection with the natural world

Please come dressed for the weather — wellies are strongly recommended.
The Visit Programme
Visit 1: Welcome to Cusgarne Organic Farm​
An introduction to the farm, its history and the principles of organic farming that guide how the land is cared for.
Visit 2: Field Science
Learn to use a field journal — observing, questioning and recording discoveries to understand the farm as scientists.
Visit 3: Art & Observation
Nature-based drawing and collaborative art to develop visual communication and explore the relationship between art and science.
Visit 4: Creative Communication
Using poetry and creative writing to express observations and communicate environmental ideas.
Visit 5: Ecological Storytelling
Listening to and sharing stories from the land through guided oral storytelling practices.
Visit 6: Eco-Anxiety: Building Resilience (Ages 12+)
A supportive space to explore feelings about environmental change and develop resilience and positive action.

Accessibility & Practical Information
We aim to make visits welcoming to a wide range of abilities, but please note the farm is a working landscape.

Visits are always paced gently and participation is invitational, no activity is compulsory.

Meet the Facilitator — Jemma Roberts
The programme is led by Jemma Roberts, an experiential environmental educator and outdoor ecotherapist.
Jemma’s work blends environmental education, psychology and creative communication to help young people build meaningful relationships with the natural world.

MSc, Durrell Institute of Conservation Ecology

Training in ecopsychology & outdoor ecotherapy

Experience in conservation, sustainable tourism and youth environmental education

Enhanced DBS certificate (Update Service registered)
