Head of Horticulture
We are looking for an experienced person to join Cusgarne Organic Farm to manage the horticulture on a share farming basis.
This is an amazing opportunity to take on an established horticultural business with a great customer base through the farm shop, along with local health food shops, cafes and restaurants and all necessary farming equipment in place.
The horticulture at Cusgarne Farm is an absolutely central part of the farm, we have been farming organically for over 30 years. We manage the land on a rotational basis and grow a large variety of fruit and vegetables.
You will have the use of a 3 acre field and 6 polytunnels (more land subject to negotiation).
On site accommodation also available if required.
Qualifications are a bonus but not required, we are more interested in a person who can demonstrate relevant experience and passion about organic food and environment. We need somebody who is able to take on the responsibility and will relish the challenge and the option to work on a fantastic farm, with great soil.
This is your business; you will therefore be responsible for the produce from planning the planting to delivery of the end produce. You will be responsible for the land and tunnels 7 days per week, including watering on a Sunday.
Tractor driving experience strongly preferred but not absolutely essential.
We manage the land with soil health and food quality in mind, we practise low intervention in terms of heavy equipment, particularly in rainy periods.
The produce and the farm shop work closely together with each business supporting the other, therefore a close working relationship is required to ensure availability.
