Our indigenous trees provide incredible opportunities for low food mile food sources. Sweet chestnuts, cob nuts (a kind of hazelnut), fruit trees, hazelnuts and walnuts are great sources of protein, vitamins and good fats. There is no need for us to be freighting almond and cashew nut milk half way around the world from communities already under huge water resource pressure.

Alongside our own food provision, planting trees that provide food for wildlife is an invaluable way to support populations and encourage biodiversity, especially now, as in many areas of the country there is little food for birds, squirrels etc.
